Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website. This statement describes our target, what we have done and tested, what is still known to fall short, and how to tell us about a problem.

Our commitment

Our target is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This is a goal we are working towards. We do not currently claim that the website fully conforms.

What we have built in

  • A "Skip to main content" link and a consistent page structure with one main heading per page and landmarks for navigation, main content and footer.
  • Everything can be used with a keyboard, including the menus and the mobile menu, with a clearly visible focus indicator.
  • Text and interface colours are chosen to meet the AA contrast ratios, and information is never given by colour alone.
  • Form fields have visible labels, hints and error messages that are linked to the field and announced by screen readers, and an error summary receives focus when a form cannot be sent.
  • Status changes such as "message sent" or loading errors are announced to assistive technology.
  • The layout adapts from small phones to large screens and works when text is enlarged or the page is zoomed.
  • Animations are small, and are reduced or removed when your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.

How we test

Pages are checked automatically with the axe-core accessibility engine and Lighthouse in a real browser at several screen sizes, and with keyboard-only scripts that tab through pages, menus and forms. Automated tools find only a part of all possible problems.

Known limitations

We are aware of the following. We are working to resolve them.

  • The site has not yet been tested by people using screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver or TalkBack, or with speech-recognition software.
  • Articles and job descriptions are written by administrators in Markdown. Their authors are responsible for clear headings and meaningful link text, and we cannot check every piece of content automatically.
  • Cover images supplied for articles must come with a description; where none is given, a decorative illustration is shown instead.
  • Pages open on the same site without a full reload; focus is moved to the top of the new page, but screen-reader behaviour has not yet been verified with real assistive technology.

Tell us about a barrier

If something on this website is hard to use, please tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what technology you use. Contact: hr@emindsit.com.
